Meet Eric Varela, Our Founder and President
Eric Varela brings nearly 30 years of experience in roadway operations and civil construction. He began his career as a laborer and advanced through numerous field and leadership positions, including equipment operator, foreman, estimator, project manager, operations manager, and executive.
His background extends beyond pavement markings to include asphalt, concrete, traffic control, roadway maintenance, estimating, safety, and field operations. This broad experience gives Eric a complete understanding of a project, from estimating and pre-construction planning to field production and final closeout.
Throughout his career, Eric has managed crews, coordinated complex schedules, developed estimating strategies, implemented safety programs, and overseen work for public agencies and private contractors. His experience with government projects has also given him a strong understanding of contract compliance, agency coordination, reporting, and quality-control requirements.
Eric founded Hulxe Construction Services to build a company centered on professionalism, accountability, safety, and dependable performance. He continues to take a hands-on role in estimating, operations, project planning, equipment development, and client relationships while guiding the company’s continued growth.
